The I Ching
was correct. I asked about the success of Yves' planned Cultural
Association. It said, "Thus the superior man consolidates
his fate by making his position correct. The fate of fire
depends on wood; as long as there is wood below, the fire
burns above. It is the same in human life; there is in man
likewise a fate that lends power to his life. And if he succeeds
in assigning the right place to life and to fate, thus bringing
the two into harmony, he puts his fate on a firm footing."
The fostering of the Cultural Association lead Yves
into the political arena. Within two years, there were riots and major problems in New
Caledonia. This resulted in the emergence of a new political order, with New Caledonia
divided into three Provences. Yves became the new Vice President of Provence Sud. Later,
after serving his term of office, he became Minister for Commerce and Minister for
Culture. Now he is in charge of the environmental concerns of the Southern Provence of New
Caledonia and has been instrumental in making major improvements - establishing land and
marine parks, fostering environmental regulations for mining, and promoting cooperation
between all government agencies for environmental research and regulation.
In 1998 the various groups
reached an accord towards eventual semi-independence from
France.
