Cruising New Caledonia

Guide Nautique Nouvelle Calédonie en français annuaire du tourisme nouvelle caledonie

Downloading the Nautical Guide to New Caledonia

Here are instructions for downloading and installing the guides on your computer.

When you make your payment you will immediately be transferred to a page with two links for downloading the cruising guide and the companion activities and tourism guide. An email is also sent to your email address with the download links and your Order Number. Remember to write down the order number because you will need it for activation of the cruising guide.

THESE LINKS ARE ONLY VALID FOR 24HRS.

1. DOWNLOAD THE CRUISING GUIDE FILE

The cruising guide file is CRUISINGNEWCAL.ZIP and is 548MB

The Companion Activities Guide is NOUVELLECALEDONIE.ZIP and is 616.85MB

IF THE COMPUTER YOU USE TO DOWNLOAD THE FILE IS NOT THE ONE YOU PLAN TO USE WHEN ACTUALLY CRUISING, DOWNLOAD OR COPY THE CRUISINGNEWCAL.ZIP FILE ONTO A USB KEY AND TRANSFER IT TO THE COMPUTER YOU INTEND TO USE IT ON. THE GUIDE WILL ONLY BE ACTIVATED FOR ONE COMPUTER!

The companion guide does not need to be activated and you can use it on any computer you own.

In any case, when you start the download, be sure you check to see where the file is being downloaded to.

2. UNZIP THE FILES FOR THE GUIDE ONTO THE COMPUTER YOU WILL USE WHEN CRUISING

Once the download is finished, you need to unzip the guides onto the computer you intend to activate it on by right clicking on the downloaded files and selecting "extract".

The unzip program will ask you where to save it and suggest C:/CRUISINGNEWCAL

If it shows another drive change the first letter to C ON THE COMPUTER YOU INTEND TO USE WHILE CRUISING and click OK.

This will copy all of the files and folders into a folder on C: drive of the computer you will use while cruising. The Activity guide will create a folder called C:/NOUVELLECALEDONIE on the hard disk drive.

This does not "install" any programs on your computer so they will not appear in your "programs" list.

You need to make a shortcut to the programs and put it on your desktop to start the guides.

3. PUT A SHORTCUT ONTO YOUR DESKTOP

Use your windows file system manager to go to the folder - C:/CRUISINGNEWCAL. You will find a “shortcut” called NCAL in that folder. Drag the shortcut onto your desktop and you are ready to register the guide.

If you unzipped the CRUISINGNEWCAL folder onto another drive (e.g. not C:/) then you will have to make a new shortcut to the NEWCALCRUISING.EXE program file and put it on your desktop.

The companion guide is in a folder called NOUVELLECALEDONIE and the shortcut is called NCALGUIDE.

4. ACTIVATE THE CRUISING GUIDE.

The Cruising Guide to New Caledonia needs to be activated. Be sure to activate it on the computer you intend to use while cruising. For details on activation click here.

After activation you can quickly discover how to use all the features of guide by clicking on the ? icon.

You can copy the contents of the folder to a CD as a backup and the program will also run from the CD, but the guide works much faster from your hard drive.

To make a CD version of the guide navigate to the C:/CRUISINGNEWCAL folder, open it, and select all of the files and folders that you find there (you can do this by holding down the Ctrl + a keys together) then right click on any of the highlighted files and select "send to" and then your CD/DVD drive.

Follow the wizard's directions to make the CD (an ordinary blank CD-R disk is OK). To delete the program from your computer just delete the folder (the guide will continue to work from the backup CD).

5. ACTIVATION ON A BACKUP-COMPUTER OR A NEW COMPUTER

For information on setting up the guide on more than one computer click here.
