De-Activation and Re-Activation of the Nautical Guide to New Caledonia
The Guide may not be sold or given to another owner. No license will be issued to anyone who has not bought the guide from a registered dealer or directly from this web site.
The license program is a pain for us as well as for the people who buy our guides but without it there would be so many pirate versions there would be no point in all the work that we have done, and the money we have spent, to bring you the best cruising guides in the world.
The whole issue is complicated, because computers do break down and people do buy new computers - and some people want to have the guide installed on a back up computer. So what happens then?
How can we know if the person wanting another activation code is not simply getting that code for a friend on another yacht? Microsoft and many other software companies like Adobe and antivirus companies only allow you to use their software on one computer. We are forced to do the same thing for the same reason.
Here are some common licensing problems and our solutions:

The license is able to detect which computer it is on by detecting hardware and software parameters. If you change your CD Rom Drive or hard drive or install a new operating system the registration box will appear again.
Email me the new activation codes and the CD serial number. I will be able to determine if it is the same computer and will issue another activation code for that computer.
I am buying a new computer - or want to put my guide on another of my own computers.
If you want to install the license on a new computer you must uninstall the license from your old computer first.
To uninstall the guide, insert the CD while holding down the shift key. Then open your file explorer and navigate to the CD drive.
If the program is already installed on your hard drive use your file explorer to navigate to the folder with the guide.
Look for the file CRUISINGNEWCAL.EXE Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys and at the same time double-click on the file CRUISINGNEWCAL.EXE - this will open the following registration box:
First enter the activation code that you received to activate the guide in the first place (this is to prevent anyone else from uninstalling your guide).
Then click on the radio-button that says "Remove license" and click on ACTIVATE.
You will be asked if you want to uninstall the license. Click OK and the following box will appear:
Click Yes and then
Write down the Remove Code!!
Now put the CD-ROM into your new computer and follow the instructions for activation to get the new registration codes.
IMPORTANT: Before actually sending the Email with the new Site and MID registration codes, you must include the Remove Code AND the serial number of the disk (located on the disk label or on the vinyl sleeve of the CD-ROM.)
Then send the email and we will reply with the activation code - normally within 24 hours.
If the computer is not on-line or the email does not open automatically you can copy the Site Code and MID code (highlight the code by clicking on the box and dragging over the number then hold down the Ctrl key and press the C key at the same time (Ctrl+C).
Open a word file or notepad and paste (Ctrl +V) the code into the file. Do the same for the MID code. Then add the disk serial number from the vinyl cover of the CD or the disk label and save the file on a USB key. You can email it as an attachment to an email from another computer.
Send it to "activate" at the domain "rocket-guides.com"
If you decide to copy the code by hand onto a piece of paper and send it from an Internet Cafe, please note there are no letter os, only zeros and no letter ls, only number ones. Include the dashes between the number and letter groups.
When we send you the activation code, put the CD back into the SAME computer (the new one) you sent the registration codes from and the registration box will appear again.
Enter the new code in the box labeled Activation code and then click on ACTIVATE.
That's it. The guide will now work on that computer even if you copy the guide to the hard drive.
The guide works MUCH faster from the hard drive and you don't have to look for the disk every time you want to use it.
You can copy the guide to your hard disk by clicking on the help icon ? and clicking on the link to load the guide onto your hard drive (in the middle of the page). To remove it later, just delete the folder containing the guide from your C: drive.
What if I can't uninstall the license?
If you are unable to uninstall the old license, for example if your computer is lost or stolen or completely inoperable, there is an upgrade fee of $49.50 for a new license. This option is only valid for ONE re-issue of a license.

I would like to upgrade to the newest version.
During 2008 and 2009 we revisited all the anchorages and added new photos,GPS route information, new anchorages and new features. This is a major update and if you have a valid license for a prior version you can upgrade to the latest version - either downloading it or as a new set of CDs.
