On this level you are looking at an aerial photo and can see depths as well as other details needed to navigate in close quarters.
Cameras in the overlay will show you a high resolution image of the view from that location.
Unfortunately you can't really see the quality of these images on the Internet - the full screen images used on the CD are 2048 pixels wide so whatever your screen resolution you'll see the maximum your screen can handle. And it's sharp.
